Motivation For Writing My Life Story – An Inspiring True Story

Let me begin by asking a series of questions. Could the things that happened to you inspire or entertain others? Do your friends and family love your emails and continuously urge you to publish your stories? Do you live the live others can only imagine? Writing a life story becomes a journey exploring and revealing yourself.Every one can write a life story. Whatever your achievements and challenges in life, your story is worth writing.
Writing my life story, an autobiography, a memoir – this can be a big undertaking. Your motivation for doing it will help you stay dedicated to finishing the story. That motivation will come from your primary reason for writing your story.
So first, think hard and long about why you want to tell your story. What is your motivation? Is it to pass on your personal history to your family? Is it to share your views and values? Have you been through some extraordinary experiences, such as great suffering, disease, heartache or spiritual transformation?
Writing about a time which jolted or even overturned one’s life, can be a powerful way of reconnecting and weaving all the pieces of your life back together. It may be death, adoption, abuse, divorce, illness or any other painful experience can cause feelings of unreality, meaninglessness and disconnection, as well as pain and grief. The act of writing a sentence is an act of making connection and of constructing meaning, and may help put the pieces of your life together.
Often there are pictures in the mind that seem to hold special significance. Think about your life and see if there is some image you often think about; a broken toy, a path in the bush, a room in a house. Opening with a symbolic image can be a seductive way to start. It creates a sense of mystery and the possibility of discovery.
Do you desire to be in the spotlight and boast of your accomplishments? (Hey, vanity can be a strong motivator.) Maybe you hope to just make some sense of your life. The why of your story is important, so do give it some serious thought.
Life stories make fascinating reading. Written in a compelling way, they have the power to inspire, uplift and motivate those who read your words. I hope my words have inspired you.?

When writing for women’s magazines it’s important to know the themes that work – and those that don’t. Here we take a look at popular magazine themes.
First off, here’s a question. What kind of stories do you think are printed in women’s magazines? If you don’t read them, chances are that you’ll say ‘romance’. Well, you would only be half-right. Romance still figures highly within their pages but these days it’s not the traditional stuff.
Years ago the mainstay of this kind of magazine was traditional boy-meets-girl kind of stories, though these could be contemporary, period or historical. These days the romance is often entwined with more modern themes – single parents, revenge on a straying partner, kids’ problems and the like. Stories tend to be grittier and more true-to-life – and not all have to have a happy ending.
So what other themes are popular? Here are a few themes that are popular in modern magazines:
- Warm stories about children, teenagers and family problems of various kinds.
- Stories with a thriller element, even crime so long as they are not violent or too threatening.
- Stories about family relationships, particularly between siblings.
- Offbeat stories with a ‘twist in the tail’.
There are also storylines that don’t work. Any work that contains violence, explicit sex, cruelty to anything, child abuse in any form or highly controversial issues is virtually guaranteed a trip to the rubbish bin. That’s not to say it’s rubbish – it’s just the wrong kind of work sent to the wrong place. If you want to write stories with hard-line, adult themes then this market is probably not for you – although there are other markets you could well succeed in.
Most women’s magazines want stories that will entertain their readers for five minutes or so, let them ‘escape’ from their everyday world while they enjoy a cup of coffee on a workbreak or at lunch. The theme therefore should be intriguing, uplifting if possible – and of course entertaining. Consider, therefore, what they, the reader want – and what they don’t want.
What they want is to read about someone – usually a woman, as women are almost 100% the lead characters in these particular stories – who faces a situation that causes a problem but who wins out in the end. It’s important that the story be kept simple, even though the theme may be quite intense. The reader may not have – or wish to spend – a lot of time unravelling a complex plot!
Though the story itself should be simply written that’s not to say it shouldn’t be well written. In fact, writing a 1200-word short-short in a simple fashion that manages to be entertaining is a trying discipline. However, mastery the technique allied to the right theme for your story gives you a real fighting chance of publication.
To summarise – study your market. Though the themes listed above are tried and tested, fashions and tastes change. New editors are appointed and very often change a magazine’s story themes as a matter of course. It pays to know what’s going on – and you would be amazed at the number of submitting writers who don’t. Always be aware of what your reader wants, write in the theme in vogue, keep your writing focused and someday soon it should be your door that acceptance letter drops through!

Progression Literature: The Literature of Denouement: Introducing a New Literary Genre
In life, fiction, and non-fiction, what we perceive as ‘true’ depends on what we end up believing, based on what we learn. If the information is false,’the truth’ may in fact be false. Example: Lee Harvey Oswald is presented every Nov. in TV specials as JFK’s killer, with evidence to the contrary ignored/suppressed. In literature, emerging information (true or false),also changes the ‘truth.’ In progression literature, the reader may be surprised by how ‘truth’ can evolve almost endlessly.

How to Start Writing a Story
Learning how to write a story correctly is one of the most important skills a writer can master. Of course novels are pure story but the techniques are exactly the same as those you use in non-fiction stories.
In non-fiction, a story is usually either a personal story, a testimonial, or a case study. These are true stories about real people and are used to place your product or ideas in an emotional context that shows exactly what it does and how it affects people.
A non-fiction story starts at exactly the same place a fictional story starts. Here are the key elements found at the beginning of a non-fiction story: An intriguing opening line. This is critical. The opening line has one purpose, to get you to read the next line. It must introduce the character, create a question in the reader’s mind, and give hints as to what will come in the story. The character’s status quo situation. This is where the character has been and what the character has done for a certain amount of time. In some stories it can be about a character who owns a business who has some success but is not satisfied. A strong character who wants something badly. In the personal story, this character is you. In case studies or testimonials it is the person who uses your services. It is critical that the character have a strong desire or there is no story. An event happens that changes the status quo. This launches the story. It can be a negative event in the character’s life such as the loss of a job or major client or a positive event like a marriage or birth of a child. The key element is that the status quo changes.

There are many good reasons to create short stories. They might be your preferred creative writing outlet. If you like the thought of a novel but the speed and quickness of a short story, you might enjoy writing short stories. They are great to practice, as well, even if you do want to write and publish a novel eventually. While there are many great reasons to write short stories, sometimes you can get stuck when you do sit down to write it. Here are some ideas to starting your short story, accomplishing your short story, and making it worth reading.
Before you begin writing anything, you have to have an idea. You can look for ideas for writing almost anywhere. Search around you for character ideas or you can even use ideas from your own experiences. When you have an idea, you can start writing your short story. Often the idea is the hard part. If you always have something to say, you are lucky.
Once you have your idea, you should plan out your story. It’s only a short story, so you don’t need a big outline. You could write down a few points about what is generally going to happen. You should also plan out your characters, too. If you don’t know your characters well beforehand, you will have trouble writing and may make some mistakes when trying to keep everything straight. Decide what your plot, conflict, and resolution are going to be.
When you start writing your short story, don’t stop to fix things. When it starts to flow, you won’t want to stop to fix mistakes. You might lose your train of thought. Luckily with short stories, they are pretty fast to write so the time it takes to start editing isn’t long. As you are writing, if you find that something in your story doesn’t work, go ahead and change it. This is something you will want to correct as you write to keep from rewriting too much.
When you finish writing, edit your work. You may want to take some time away from your story to refresh yourself before editing. Be critical with your work as if you are a professional editor looking to publish a good piece. If you aren’t sure about any words or ideas in your story, change it until it works for you. It is your story and there is no reason why you should have to write just an okay story. You should always love what you write. If you hate it, your reader will, too.
When you are done editing, look over your work one more time. Make sure you have a beginning, middle, and an ending. Make sure that there are no inconsistencies and that you have dialogue, descriptive writing, and any other parts of a story that fit well with your individual work. Have other people read your work and give you their opinion. Once it is polished to your liking, submit it to magazines, add it to your collection of short stories to publish, or do whatever you like with it.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Writing Stories That Sell
Writing stories that sell is every fiction writers dream and after all, considering the amount of outlets available world-wide, how difficult can it be? The good news is that it is not providing the writer has invested the time in learning ‘how to write’ compelling fiction that draws the reader into the story. Writing professionally, like any other career has its own type of apprenticeship which provides a multitude of techniques to enable the writer to produce fiction of a high quality and to create stories that readers would love. Writing stories on a professional basis also means writing even when the creative flow is not apparent and it is a struggle to form each and every word. This is one main difference between a would-be writer and a published writer. Writing stories regularly requires commitment and dedication to this often highly profitable art form and it also requires a sense of long-term vision.
Many new writers suddenly think of an idea and put pen to paper immediately and then wonder why half-way through the story, the idea begins to wane. Forward planning with writing is important and part of the writing process is actually contemplating the idea in full before even starting to capture words on paper. Once the writer is satisfied that the idea is a valid one and has potential, the real work begins. When writing stories that will sell, generating strong characters that are integral to the plot is all-important; readers need to be able to identify with those characters so they do need to be believable.
Word count is also a vital factor as it would be of no use submitting a 2000 word story to a publication that only requires stories of flash fiction length i.e. up to 1000 words. Research into any publication is a must so that the writer only submits the fiction which is specifically aimed at the publications dedicated readership.
Generating ideas can be difficult for new writers and one easy way to overcome this dilemma is to use real-life scenarios and turn them into fiction. Watching the news for example will provide a mass of ideas that can be put to use. The scenarios are used for generating new versions and not merely copying them but once the brain is used to responding to searching out new ideas and then teasing those ideas into something more specific for use in a particular publication, ideas will start to form readily. Increasing observation skills and becoming a people watcher will also provide numerous ideas for characters and events within works of fiction.
To be a professional and successful writer, it requires a great deal of focus and commitment but it is possible. Improving spelling, grammar and editing skills will happen as the quantity of writing increases but from a creative aspect, it is essential that the writer learns how to create a story that people will be able to relate to. As much as the reader loves a happy ending, they also like to witness the characters overcome the obstacles en-route and they like to identify with emotions and events in addition. Writing stories that will sell is more than churning out word count, it is about creating believable and identifiable stories that people care about.

Writing a Story Online: How to do it?

(ArticlesBase SC #1445240)
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Writing a Story Online: How to do it?
Do you sometimes feel that you have so much to offer to the world by writing stories but you do not seem to know where to begin? If you feel this way, then you should know that you can write your stories online. This means that instead of figuring out how to publish a book, post your stories on a website online.
When you want to write a story online, you need to know the ins and outs of publishing on the Web. You might want to read about some information on how to get your stories published online. It would either be that you would create your own website where you would be able to post all stories that you have written or find some websites that publish works of different authors.
After deciding on whether you create your own site or have your stories published at other sites, you should try to determine your target audience. Of course there is no limit when it comes to the topics that you want to write stories about but if you have a specific audience in mind, then you can create several stories and group them in one category. That way, you can link the stories together as well.
You must have the passion to write good stories. Think of writing a story online as something that would allow you to change people’s lives. Remember that with millions of people using the Web, one of those persons might actually be looking for your story. He might have a problem or needs some cheering up, and who knows, your story might actually provide some inspiration for him.
Writing your life story would not be that bad either. In fact, if you write your own story, you can impart some valuable lessons that you have learned, and help other people as well.
Now you see that writing a story online would not only make your dream come true of having people read your works, but you get to become a part of the lives of others as well, initiating some beautiful changes. What could be better than having someone email you saying that they were able to overcome difficulties because of the inspiration you have provided in your story?

Short Story Writing For Newbie Writers
Short Story Writing For Newbie Writers
How many of us have made the big mistake of adding too many characters and too many plots in a short story? Well, I actually did. That was way back in my college days and I was tasked to make a short story but I ended up making too many characters that in the end, I did not submit it. Sometimes, our strong imagination can overcome our logic and we begin to pour all of our ideas and that often is the number one mistake for aspiring short story writers.
A short story is, well, a brief fictional or non-fictional piece of literature. This is why it is very important to limit the size and content of the piece. How? Here are some important pointers for short story beginners in order to save you from the frustration that I have felt.
First rule is to set a number of characters. A short story should only have a few characters. This is not an epic play where you deal with 20 characters and side-characters. By having a small number of players in this literary piece, the conversation, plot and the entire story is made brief and this is the basic foundation for a good short story.
The next thing you need to understand is the simple plot. Of course, we all love a good mystery and sometimes we cannot help but place intricate and skillfully designed plots in order to raise the level of surprise in a story. The only problem with this is that you also lengthen the story itself and this is not a good sign. The plot should be simplified, allowing the story to reach the climax in a short span of time.
These are the basics when it comes to writing a short story. For most beginners, keeping the content ” short, but sweet ” is a sound advice. Just because the story is brief doesn’t mean you have to take away the quality of the piece. If you want to be double-sure, try using an English writing checker or have the short story checked by a pro. Besides, writing short stories are meant to be fun, not a chore.
There you have it, my ideas on how to become a great short story writer. With more practice, you might become a master in writing them and you can earn a lot because of your talents. However, keep on learning them for now so that you will learn a lot.

Writing Short Stories ? From Amateur to Professional Status
Writing Short Stories ? From Amateur to Professional Status
Writing short stories or poetry is where most writers begin their long journey towards publication. It provides a perfect creative outlet for those who have the feint stirrings of a story to tell and wish to transfer those creative thoughts to paper. Crafting a unique and well-rounded story is not easy and there are many pitfalls but with a little help, success is only a few steps away. When writing short stories, always consider what you are trying to achieve. It is very easy for the writer to become lost in the depths of their own imagination and a 1000 word story can easily be trebled. Writing short stories is an art form and it deserves a great deal of recognition as the writer must be focussed and dedicated to the task at hand.
There are many different story lengths available, writers can choose to write flash fiction which can be anything from approximately 50 words up to 1000, although many fiction magazines seek out stories which also have had the chance to develop and grow and these can be around the 2000 word mark. Identifying a market for the story is the first step and then once this has been determined, it is time to plan the story in its entirety. Writing short stories that will sell readily requires additional planning, so extend the market research around the intended publication. For example, what do you know about the readership? A story about a teenage pregnancy is not going to be of interest to publications aimed at those in their senior years unless the writer can make it relate to them significantly.
Many writers fail at the first post by writing solely for themselves. There is of course, nothing wrong with writing for the sheer joy of creativity alone, but as many writers would like nothing more than to see their story and name in print, it is vital that those writers change their mind set from that of an amateur to a professional and this will then afford them much more opportunities and in fact, fuel that creative fire even further.
When writing a story with a minimal word count, many writers neglect to develop their characters fully but it is important that the reader begins to connect with the characters and start to care as to the outcome, otherwise the story will lack interest for them. Allow the reader to identify with a strong human interest angle and this will help keep them interested and following through to the end.
Stories are around us all the time but it is our own unique interpretation that makes the story come alive. As writers, it is important that any witnessed mannerisms, characteristics and events are all stored away for future use, as aspects of events can be used in short stories, for example an old creepy building that you may have observed in passing could be used when trying to picture a haunted house for a ghost story. Life produces unlimited opportunities for story tellers everywhere but when writing short stories with a serious intent, we have to make good use of this free material and then we can go from amateur to professional quickly and easily.
